Hosta 'Designer Genes'

[M] The first of Arthur Wrede's fantastic red petioled hybrids to be introduced. The vibrant gold leaves of 'Designer Genes' are held atop stunning, blood red petioles. A steady grower that forms a brilliant mound about 12" tall x 30" wide that fades to chartreuse as the season progresses. Deep red scapes of dark purple flowers really create a riot of color in late summer. Hosta 'Designer Genes' was the 2006 American Hosta Society National Convention plant. Protect from hot mid day and afternoon sun.
