Hosta 'Green Lava'

[M] Ed Schulz is a good friend and a passionate leaf show advocate. Ed has knowledge of a vast number of hosta varieties, and a keen eye for detail. 'Green Lava' is his latest introduction, and has proven to be a solid performer in our garden. This seedling of 'Tequila Sunrise' emerges with long, bright yellow leaves with wavy, crimped, down-swept margins. Pinkish-purple petioles hold the foliage in a low, boiling fountain-like form that can reach 20" high and 38" across. By mid summer, the hot, yellow foliage cools to green. Hosta 'Green Lava' has horizontal scapes of fertile, lavender flowers in late summer.
