[S-M] An unusual European plant that has probably never been available in the United States. The parentage of 'Anna Lindh' is a mystery. The foliage emerges blue-green in the spring, looking quite ordinary in shape and color. As the season rolls on, the leaves begin to lighten from the center out, going through shades of chartreuse, yellow, and sometimes nearly to white. The margins of the leaves remain green, but not in the way a typically variegated hosta would. The green often runs along the veins at the tip of the leaf, and reaches up the center vein at the base of the leaf. Hosta 'Anna Lindh' grows into a constantly changing clump at least 12" tall and 24" across that blooms in late summer with lavender flowers. Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but if you like unusual hostas, this one definitely qualifies.

(L. Kosa - 2005)
