Hosta 'Light the Match'

[S] Doug Ruff's second red blushing introduction is about to set your garden on fire! Hosta 'Light the Match' has narrow, rippled leaves that emerge bright yellow in the spring. For the first few weeks, the foliage is blushed with red, as if the entire plant is a furry of flames. As with other "blushing" hostas, a little direct morning sun helps bring out the best blush. By late spring, the blush is gone and the plant slowly turns greener. Hosta 'Light the Match' is a red-hot addition to the garden that only grows about 10" tall and 15" across. In late summer, dark red scapes hold big, lavender flowers that result in purple seed pods.
