Hosta 'American King of the Woods'

[VL] Van Wade was one of the most generous and humble people in the hosta world, and his legacy will carry on in his many hosta introductions. Hosta 'American King of the Woods' is one of Van's biggest. This 'Elegans' seedling has huge, heavy, blue-green leaves up to 19" long. Veins are deeply impressed and moderate corrugation develops as the plant matures. Hosta 'American King of the Woods' is a fast grower, but it takes time to grow into a massive mound about 36" tall and 60" across. Near-white, fertile flowers bloom just above the foliage in early summer. An impressive specimen!
