[M] This striking, multi-generation hybrid from Don Dean has a few tricks up its leaves. In the spring, 'Transitions' emerges with green leaves bordered by wide, rippled, creamy-yellow margins. By mid summer, the magic begins. The creamy-yellow margins begin turning a rarely seen, antique-gold color. From there, the leaf margins fade to white, progressing from the edge of the leaf toward the green center. There is a stage where the green leaf center is circled with antique-gold, which is circled by white. I've never seen any other hosta go through color shifts in such an unusual way! Hosta 'Transitions' grows into a semi-upright mound about 19" tall and 42" across that blooms in mid summer with fertile, pale lavender flowers.
