Hosta 'Orange Star'

[M] A tetraploid sport of 'June Fever' from Jan van den Top of The Netherlands. 'Orange Star' is a bit of a chameleon, depending on how much light it receives. A few hours of sun gives the leaf centers a distinct orange hue in the spring, which fades to creamy-white by fall. In the shade, the leaf centers remain chartreuse all season. The thick, glossy leaves are edged by wide blue-green margins, and are often gently cupped. Hosta 'Orange Star' is a slow grower, but eventually will form a beautiful clump about 12" tall and 28" across that looks fresh all season. Blooms in mid summer with lavender flowers.
