Hosta 'Abiqua Recluse'
[M-L] Don't let the name fool you—Hosta 'Abiqua Recluse' is anything but shy! This stunning hosta commands attention with its highly textured, glossy gold foliage. The heart-shaped leaves are beautifully corrugated and cupped, creating a dramatic, sun-kissed focal point even in moderate shade. Bright shade or partial sun will develop the best golden-yellow color, though. A hybrid of 'White Vision' x 'Sum and Substance', 'Abiqua Recluse' inherited the best traits from both: an impressive mature mound size up to 23" tall and at least 48" across, sturdy leaf substance, and great vigor. Fertile, pale lavender flowers bloom in mid-summer. Hosta 'Abiqua Recluse' is an essential, slug-resistant hosta for collectors seeking out great plants of historical significance. 'Abiqua Recluse' has produced several excellent sports, including the always popular Hosta 'Paradigm'.
