Hosta 'Ben Vernooij'
[M] This is the fully tetraploid form of 'First Frost' with unbelievably thick substanced foliage. Listen to the slugs whimper! The wedge-shaped leaves emerge powdery-blue with a very wide, blazing gold margin. You'll be hard pressed to find a richer combination of colors in the hosta garden. The deep gold margin turns creamy-white by early summer, but as with the entire family, the blue color holds strong most of the season. As with many tetraploids, Hosta 'Ben Vernooij' is a slower grower, but will form a beautiful mound about 12" tall and 24" across that blooms with lavender flowers in mid summer.
