Hosta 'Catcher's Mitt'

An In The Country Exclusive!

[M] Some plants take your breath away the very first time you spot them in a hybridizer's trial garden. When our good friend Don Rawson first showed us this extraordinary seedling of his 'Mule Hide', I knew immediately we had to bring it to hosta lovers everywhere! Hosta 'Catcher's Mitt' is easily one of the most anticipated exclusive introductions we have ever had the privilege to offer.

Truly unlike any other. The foliage forms a tidy, upright mound that takes its time maturing into an absolute garden masterpiece. Thick, stiff leaves feature an extraordinarily deep cup with intensely corrugated, light green centers framed by a subtle dark green margin that highlights every puckered curve. Because those unique leaves hold themselves upward like a ballplayer's cupped glove, they constantly showcase their stark, chalky white undersides...and that dramatic visual contrast is just incredible!  White flowers bloom in midsummer.

Where do I even start with a plant that completely redefines what a hosta leaf can do? While it is a slower grower that requires a bit of patience, every season brings deeper cupping, thicker substance, and unmatched character to the shade garden. Add Hosta 'Catcher's Mitt' to your collection, and get ready for a showpiece that will have every visitor stopping in their tracks!
