[M] Like the swift rapids in an otherwise meandering stream, we find this new hybrid from Don Dean captivating. A seedling of ('Swoosh' seedling x 'High Kicker') x 'Astral Bliss', 'Country River Rapids' has lightly dimpled leaves of soft blue-green with narrow, yellow, rippled and ruffled margins. The leaf tips are pulled under, as if caught in a strong current, and the sturdy leaf texture keeps the plant looking fresh all season. Hosta 'Country River Rapids' quickly grows into a mesmerizing mound about 17" tall and 32" across that blooms with light lavender flowers in late summer.
