Hosta 'Holar Deepest Purple'

[M] Hosta hybridizers keep pushing the boundaries of blushing color in hostas, and Belgian hybridizer Ronny Van Keer of "Holar" fame certainly does that with this seedling of 'Red Bull' x 'Jack Berry'. Hosta 'Holar Deepest Purple' creates an intense buzz in the spring garden with its moody dramatic color. The wavy blue-green leaves are almost entirely covered in a heavy, dark purple blush that permeates from the center vein out toward the leaf margin in the spring. Saturated purple petioles hold the foliage as it gracefully sheds the purple blush as spring turns to summer. Hosta 'Holar Deepest Purple' shows off its rich dusky colors beautifully when paired with brighter chartreuse or golden neighbors.

NOTE: Plants are small.
