Hosta 'House of Wax'

[M]  Hybridizer Mike Vasey created something truly extraordinary when he crossed 'Sugar Plum' with 'Foxfire Irish Moon'. Hosta 'House of Wax' catches your eye the second you see it in the garden. This choice hosta delivers an out-of-the-ordinary color combination that you rarely find in the hosta world.

The foliage offers pure visual intrigue from spring right through summer. Broad, smooth leaves with excellent substance emerge a soft lime-green, completely shrouded in an incredibly thick, milky wax coating that gives the plant a frosty, ghostly glow. Beneath that unique waxy foliage, saturated purple petioles hold the broad, deeply veined leaves upright to show off their colorful bases.

In midsummer, sturdy scapes hold fertile flowers high above the waxy foliage, opening up fun possibilities for hybridizers. Hosta 'House of Wax' is a remarkably beautiful plant for anyone looking to add a unique foliage color to a shaded area.
