Hosta 'Humungousaurus'
[VL] Some hostas quietly blend into the background, but this one demands the whole stage! It’s easy to see why hybridizer Hans Hansen named this monumental introduction Hosta 'Humungousaurus'. Born from a cross of 'Key West' x 'Viking Ship', this choice giant turns heads from the moment it emerges in the spring.
The scale is simply mind-blowing. Emerging with bright chartreuse foliage, the elongated heart-shaped leaves quickly mature into a saturated golden-yellow color, boasting deeply impressed veins that add dramatic texture across the massive mound. Standing next to a fully mature clump feels like stepping into a whole new world... (and yes, it really can reach over seven feet wide!). Despite its colossal stature, it features a surprisingly fast growth rate, effortlessly building an 88" wide mound that stands nearly 43" tall at maturity.
In midsummer, proportionate scapes carry pale lavender flowers just above the glowing golden foliage. Hybridizers and seed growers will be thrilled to know that it sets viable seed, making it a fun plant for hybridizers wanting to super size their seedlings. If you have a shady spot in need of a true focal point, give 'Humungousaurus' plenty of elbow room and watch it transform your garden into a lush retreat! PP36,926
