Hosta 'Love's Purest Light'

[M]  A true beacon in the shade! Hybridizer Harold McDonell brings us a real treasure with Hosta 'Love's Purest Light'. Coming from a thoughtfully crafted cross of (a Lakeside seedling x 'English Sunrise') x 'Golden Sculpture', this introduction brings constant intrigue to the garden.  It’s easy to see why this hosta captures so much attention as the season unfolds. In early spring, the foliage wakes up with a brilliant, saturated gold color that practically glows against darker foliage. As summer sets in, those broad leaves shift gracefully to a vibrant, bright apple green. Combining its rich color transition with heavy puckering and deep corrugation, the low-growing 14" tall by 36" wide mound creates an eye-catching statement.  Intriguingly, Harold reports that this unique plant has never produced flowers in his Georgia garden. A welcome bonus for those who dislike hosta flowers.
